Also Haru and Sora aren't lucky enough to look just dissimilar enough to get away with pretending to not be related.) Every time he was separated from Sora for any length of time the realization of what he was doing weighed on him and fear started to take hold, when she was with him that fear was held back, but getting found out in such a way, and also where Sora shows that she doesn't give a fuck if they are found out Haru just can't cope with it anymore and tries to break it off and starts wanting them to be taken in by different family members, thinking that them being separated so their feelings for each other can die. He was split between his love for her, and his desire for what is best for her (For the record I love incest and bro/sis love more than any other kind of love, but that is NOT an easy life, it is fraught with pain and being an outcast. You have to realize that his relationship with Sora was tearing him apart before she forced his hand at the lake scene. True but that doesn't exactly make what I said less true.
In all actuality it's nothing more than a dangerous toy that can be potentially useful in case The Habbening ever happens. They're fun to shoot and they always generate conversation when you show up in public places to shoot. It takes Sora nearly fucking dying at the bottom of their hometown's lake in the dead of night when no one else could save her after how exclusively and unshakeably loving and devoted she's been for him to finally come to his senses and only then can he truly dedicate himself to loving her no matter what anyone tries to do.
He put on a mask and bottled up his true feelings from literally everyone, even his girlfriends in each route that he developed their relationship enough to sleep with, distanced himself from his TWIN little sister and outright left her alone at home all the way until sunset on a daily basis just to get away from her and gave her hope that they could actually be together and took her virginity only to later doubt and try to drive his precious little sister and one true love out of his life forever.
But look at everything that happened because he was so afraid. I absolutely love Haru and Sora as a couple and understand that Haru had his own issues and is a good person at heart. Does Haru truly deserve Sora? I find myself wondering about this even now.
